Warwick is the Southern Downs' main town, on the Condamine River at about 475 m, with rural country on every side.
The Condamine's highest recorded flood at Warwick was 9.10 m on the McCahon Bridge gauge in February 1976, damaging over 100 homes, and the river reached 7.56 m as recently as May 2022.
