How Scenic Rim shapes a shed project
Scenic Rim Regional Council separates domestic sheds from farm sheds by use. A Class 10a shed that belongs to a house is a domestic outbuilding; a shed used for farming falls under other use definitions such as cropping. Which one your shed is changes the planning rules, so the intended use needs to be stated honestly on the application.
In the residential zones Council caps the combined floor area of domestic outbuildings by lot size: 55 m² on lots up to 600 m², 110 m² on 600 to 2,000 m², and 200 m² above 2,000 m², and never more than the floor area of the house. That is often the controlling number for a town block in Beaudesert or Canungra.
